Whitechapel Bengali mapping project – volunteer opportunities for January 2019

Join us at Four Corners Gallery on the 24th January, 2019 to learn about an exciting new project in collaboration with the Swadhinata Trust. This project aims to create a map of Whitechapel showing the Bengali population today in comparison with an early map of Whitechapel showing the Jewish population at the turn of the 20th century.

This map, when complete, will be a fascinating account of how migrant communities lead change in areas. The map will be stylised exactly as the original map showing the Jewish population will be and we need help!

Come along if you want to find out more, learn how you can help interpret census data, create data-sets help us with the creation of the new map or are interesting in the original map and its historical research.
